Part 13: Zoom Loom Yarn Explorations

We had a bit of break from Zoom Loom swatches last week, but this week we’re back with squares made from some more lovely yarns.

This first swatch is yarn spun from Anzula‘s hand-dyed wool roving fiber. The blue swathes on the right are woven a merino 2-ply sport weight yarn in Ocean colorway.  The squares on the left are made from a Navajo plied DK weight yarn in a whimsical colorway. If you don’t already know how to spin, this fiber will make you want to learn!  These squares have a lively character and life to them.

Below, Jade Sapphire Exotic Fibers Mongolian cashmere, sport weight fulls squares fulled nicely for a drapy fabric. As you might expect from cashmere, these swatches are amazingly soft. Think wonderfully snugly cowl.

Below we’re featuring several swatches from Brown Sheep. From far right, the first two are made with Nature Spun sport weight with the first square mixed with sock weight Wildfoote yarn. Variegated yarns add visual interest, like this one worked in Lanaloft, a 100% wool, super wash sport weight yarn in Razzmatazz. Brown Sheep Nature Spun sport weight is an excellent choice for beginning Zoom Loom weavers.
