The Weaver’s School: A Good Place to Be

I’m just back from a trip to the beautiful and lush Pacific Northwest. Coming from semi arid Colorado, I loved the green, green, green of everything—though it was a little cool for what I’d call summer. Barry and I on our trip from Vancouver to Seattle stopped in Coupeville to spend a little time with Madelyn van der Hoogt, editor of Handwoven magazine and Founder and Principal Instructor of the Weavers’ School. Madelyn’s Weaving II was in session and I must say what I really wanted to do then and there was just weave. Madelyn and her Studio Director, Suzie Liles, from the Eugene Textile Center were available to the students who were weaving away on some mighty interesting and beautiful warps. (It was especially thrilling to seem them working away on our Schacht Baby Wolf Looms…!)

I’d call this week of weaving, a weaving camp extraordinaire—a great place for learning and time to weave without interruption.
